To store needlepoint, wrap the items in acid-free tissue paper. This keeps the textiles from coming in contact with the acids in wood and regular paper. Next, put the wrapped items into plastic boxes with lids. This keeps bugs out. Also, keep them away from light. Light, acid (paper), and bugs are the main enemies of textiles. This method protects them from all three. Museums store textiles this way , so the method is well tested.
