Sunday Sampler of Charted Needlepoint

The Nashville Needlework market is a cross-stitch and charted needlepoint market. Nashville offers great food, music and culture so is a wonderful place for a market. Here are some of the wonderful charted needlepoint designs  that I am bringing back to the shop on Monday.

Needle Delights Originals include multiple colorsways.

Here is what designer Kathy Rees says about my favorite new design on the right, called BlackJack: ”All of my new releases for market are done and printed…whew! The last completed was BlackJack and I designed and stitched the whole piece in 12 days! Of course it was in my head for months before coming out on the canvas! There are 324 squares in the piece and 292 unique patterns (36 squares were completely filled with the Jacks and are all the same! I love bright colors so this was a really fun piece for me. It’s hard to believe it didn’t exist a month ago and now it’s here – I feel like it’s my new baby!”
What a great project this will be to stitch.

Debbie Rowley, the talented designer behind DebBee’s Designs has exciting new projects to entice and challenge you.

This is Twinkling Gems, debuting a new thread, Twinkle, rayon/metallic blend. This is a very user friendly thread that has been ordered for the shop.

From Nancy’s Needle designs by Nancy Buhl, come new additions to her “American Life’ series.  This one really caught my eye and so is coming back to the shop.

Charted needlepoint can be done in your colors, so another way to customize your stitched pieces. Lots of other charted designs coming back to the shop for your stitching enjoyment. See you soon!

Sunday Sampler of New Tools

I am always on the hunt for new tools for you. Here is what I have found during the last market and at recent classes.

 MAGNIFIERS
Two magnifiers with led lights at the edge of the magnifier.
The first one has a 7″ arm and the second  has a 16″ arm. I have used both. They are light weight and portable.  The batteries are included .I have used both and really like the addition of the LED lights. I use the shorter one on smaller projects and the larger one on my Japanese Embroidery frames.

 LAYING TOOL
There is a new laying tool, Finella. It is  light-weight, 4″ long and has a very comfortable handle.  I find it lighter and a better fit in my hand than other similar tools.

SCISSORS
Curved, serrated scissors to use on metallic threads and also great for cutting turkey work.

BEAD BUDDIES
New Bead Buddies from ETC. The little box is 1 1/2″ x 1″ and has a sticky bottom. A rare earth magnet holds it in place on your canvas.

Stop in and see these new items. New canvases and threads arriving daily from market. It is always exciting to open the boxes!

More Class Progress

I need to finish the couching on this leaf to lay the veins today. You can see the couching thread where I left off.
Here is my progress by lunch break.

The projects for the next classes are on display. It will be a hard choice. I do like the intricacy and dimension of the koi piece that is on a special fabric that looks like water swirling. I never would have thought to put the wisteria on the fabric used. It looks like a lace curtain behind the piece.

The gold leaf purse is the special project after the retreat ends.
Who wouldn’t want to carry this bag!

Retreat Class

After the winter needlework market, I scheduled a Japanese Embroidery class
at the Blue Bonnet Studio Retreat in Austin, Texas. It is great to be able to concentrate on my stitching which is near impossible at a class at the shop.
Here is my work station ready for a great day of stitching.

This is the class project stitched and designed by our teacher, Midori Matsushima I chose to work on.

I was pleased with my progress in the morning on this leaf.

In the afternoon, I progressed to another leaf at the lower right corner of the design with two colors and will post pictures tomorrow. I got busy chatting with friends at break, seeing what other classes were doing andso  forgot to take more pictures. Tomorrow , I will be working on the circle and the screen under the teacher’s watchful eye. If find this very peaceful and meditative as I concentrate on this beautiful design. Off to read and get a good nights rest!

Winter Market Day Three

A collage of pictures for  you to view. I am busy shopping and getting last minute orders completed. Many new items coming home and the rest are on order for you. Look for detailed information this evening if I have time or tomorrow!
