With summer on the way, I am busy getting ready for the shop’s summer classes. Here is a July counted class project I am working on that just needs a few more stitches and a background completed . There are six other colorways including copper and blues, red, blue and silver, bright and pink, light green and lavender. There are options for the background as well. A great project on a hot summer day – so come join the fun. Watch for the completed design and colorways choices. See you in class!
WREATH ORNAMENT
Each month I have a contest at the shop to win a $50 gift certificate. Last month ,you had to guess the number of quail eggs in the jar and the winner was Katharine H. of California. There were 398 eggs and her guess was 400.
This month , you need to find Quincy, our little store mascot and write down his location for a chance to win at the drawing on May 31.

See you soon and good luck!
Susan
It is time to update you with the upcoming classes. I have had many requests for a Stumpwork class as well as an Or Nue class. So here you are!
STUMPWORK
Berries and Ladybug MAY 21, 2016 10:30am-1pm

It is always fun to find a ladybug in your garden! Create your own nestled among the blueberries in this Stumpwork design. Pebble beads make stitching the berries a snap. Your delicious design measures 2.5″ x 2.5″ when finished.
Lady’s Slipper JUNE 18, 2016 10:30am-1pm

Your finished Lady Slipper measures 3″ x 3″ and is so realistic people will want to touch it. You will learn how to make the detached silk flower and petals and attach them to your stitched background.
Or Nue Goldwork AUGUST 20, 2016 10:30am-1pm

“Or Nue” Is French for Naked Gold. This type of goldwork helps you master the art of couching, all the while creating beautiful yet subtle designs over a laid goldwork canvas. Finished size: 3″ x 3.12″ on 18 ct. canvas.

Sue Reed is coming to teach her “Mystery of Life” design October 13/14.2016.

Rhythmic patterns are stitched to form three separate interlaced designs reminiscent of Celtic/British Isles knots. The center is comprised of four knots that abut, with carefully placed colors to make the knots appear as one large knot. The border pattern, a basic knot adaptation, is expanded to flow entirely around the design. At each corner an interlaced motif weaves into the basic pattern to create another dimension to the corner turn. Quiet areas of solid-color patterns bring texture to the background and allow for a visual resting place. Color choices are available. Perfect companion to your “It’s Knot Unusal” from Sue’e previous class.

East meets West
This week in all the stress and organized chaos of creating a new store and the impending move, a wonderful event happened. I have two lovely Canadian friends who are customers, one of Calgary and one from Toronto. Both are elegant, classy and talented ladies, one a pastel artist and the other a canvas artist. I purchased my wedding dress from my Toronto friend and then connected with her years later at Callaway Gardens. My friend from Calgary pops in often when she visits her daughter who lives here.
I look forward to their visits as they challenge me with color and perspective when interpreting their canvases. By chance, there came to the store at the same time and I was able to introduce them. They shared their love of stitching. They exchanged information so through the internet, they will be able to see each others’ work. This to me is one of the best parts of being part of the needlework world –sharing our interest and love for the art.
Here is some of their work for you also to enjoy. I am so lucky to know these ladies!!!
This incredible pastel artwork demonstrates exceptional detail, intense colour and play of light.
Babes in the Woods speaks of the Women’s Circle, the bonding of Women, the comfort of stories shared and the comfort of just being together even when one wanders away to have time alone in contemplation.
Daily items are arriving in the store that I purchased at the Winter Needlework Market.
Here is a collage of just a few on the new items-
Fun holiday brick, whimsical cats, Chicago postcard and lots of holiday ornaments.Stop in or
