East meets West

East meets West

This week in all the stress and organized chaos of creating a new store and the impending move, a wonderful event happened. I have two lovely Canadian friends who are customers, one of Calgary and one from Toronto. Both are elegant, classy and talented ladies, one a pastel artist and the other a canvas artist. I purchased my wedding dress from my Toronto friend and then connected with her years later at Callaway Gardens. My friend from Calgary pops in often when she visits her daughter who lives here.

I look forward to their visits as they challenge me with color and perspective when interpreting their canvases. By chance, there came to the store at the same time and I was able to introduce them. They shared their love of stitching. They exchanged information so through the internet, they will be able to see each others’ work.  This to me is one of the best parts of being part of the needlework world –sharing our interest and love for the art.

Here is some of their work for you also to enjoy. I am so lucky to know these ladies!!!

This incredible pastel artwork demonstrates exceptional detail, intense colour and play of light.

Babes in the Woods speaks of the Women’s Circle, the bonding of Women, the comfort of stories shared and the comfort of just being together even when one wanders away to have time alone in contemplation.

This funky hearts design was the class I took today. I alwaysl like to take a class from Associated Talents as they do great things with beads.

Then it was back to the booth to help shops with their Quail Run Designs canvas purchases.

I did get out for some shopping today and my  finds included new colors in metallic braid and Japanese thread from Kreinik.

The next find was small buttons for embellishments.

I could not resist these mugs!

Threadnuts has some new colors in Painters Threads and gimp that are coming back to the shop.

There are new canvases coming back to the shop as well. I will take pictures tomorrow and post some if I have time.
Tomorrow is the last day and after the show closes everything has to be packed back up in trunks to be shipped back to the shop. It has been a great show but it is always nice to return home.

was the project . I got some more great ideas for stitches and thread use from this class.

I did have to leave class a little early to get to the booth before the
shopping started. I forgot to take a picture of the booth but will post that tomorrow.
