Various sizes of pre-cut blank canvas are available in both 18 mesh and 13 mesh.  It is best that the canvas be stitched while oriented vertically. This ensuresthe selvedge edge remains on the vertical side when stitching.  Stitching with the selvedge edge on the vertical improves canvas tension and can be especially helpful during the finishing process.
